Destroyed statues of USSR pioneers in Kadji-Say, near abandoned uranium mines, 2019.

Pavlodar town chemical combine (former enterprise of The Defensive Department of the USSR). Chemical plant has not died. This enterprise produced some productions, and use chlorine etc.

It has been found in 2004 Kriptozan (not far from Almaty, 220 km)  mercury-contain chemical (a class № 1, Granozan analogue), which earlier used for treat with mordant a grains.

Radioactivity compounds: consequences of nuclear tests and uranium industry of USSR

Tadjikistan

Ten warehouses in Sogdian oblast contains about 54 thousands cubic meters of toxic wastage, mostly uranium. Warehouses near Tabahsar (well known in USSR as “closed uranium city”) and in Abrasman were ransacking several times latest years.

Inhabitants search old metal-equipment, which hided after enterprises closed up.

The results (2005): cases of congenital illness (spinal hernia, tracheal fistula, etc) and newborns death occurs.

Kyrgyzstan

There are over 35 warehouses containing radioactive compounds.
These include: Mailluu-Suu, Sumsar, Taboshar (Jalal-Abad area) , Min-Kush (Jumgal area) – old uranium tailings.

Kadamjai antimony enterprise (additionally contain mercury)  in South-West Kyrgyzstan, liquid pulp very near to Uzbek boarder that exposes people of both satets to danger and creates a tension on border.

It had been occur several accidents in republic territory, for example Thorium pollution in Ak-Tjuz region.

Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan has both mothballed uranium mines (Uchkuduk, Sugrali, Sabyrsay, etc.) and tailings containing pulp of processed uranium ores. The largest (15 million tons, area of 630 hectares) containing various, including radioactive waste tailings is located on the left bank of the river.

Zeravshan near the city of Navoi (Navoi region); on a dam with a height of 13-15 m register a gamma field of 300-500 μR per hour. Near the village of Charkesar of the Namangan Region, the total activity of radionuclides is at the level of 3×10 at minus 13 degrees Bekkerel or 810 Curie (survey by D. Aitmatova, 2003).

Kazakhstan

Сoncrete racks for mounting lunching equipment in Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan.

The Semipalatinsk, small town in Kazakhstan formerly was the main test site for atomic bomb in the USSR until 1991. Since 1991, it has been visited by many scientists from around the world, making it the best researched nuclear test site in the world. On top of that, it is the only nuclear test site in the world tourists can visit.

Several years ago had been published about population of Egendy-Bulakansk of the Karaganda area: high level of latent genetic damage (by method of erythrocytes with micro-kernels calculation). Sight  of children of the region is three times worst than in other areas (pathology 480/on 1000 in comparison 180/1000), and short-sightedness: 169/1000 in a zone and 49/1000 in control group. It has appeared of children with earlier not met tumor of an eye (retinoblastoma) in children, which not happened in 40th before test initiating. The same processes are available in a zone of other military object – in the West of Kazakhstan – Kapustin Jar: growth of illness of Down.

Aktau town

Now Aktau is name of oil capital, but in 60th this region was very over-full of uranium warehouse. Warehouse Koshkar-Ata  (most part non coved even) situated about in five kilometers from Aktau. Thirty nine square kilometers of a bottom it is bared, and huge quantity{amount} of harmful connections are carried away by a wind in city. The warehouse contain: Uranus – 238, Radium-226, Thorium – 230.

There is some problem of the warehouse stability – it began to grow shallow gradually, and already 39 (!) square kilometers of a beach remained without a sheeting. For all period of operation here it has been buried (by some independent assessment) about 50-70 billion tons of radioactive waste products, and total activity more than 11 thousands curie.

All Kazakhstan territories with radioactive products warehouses is 1411,77  hectares. And total radioactive wastages  in Kazakhstan about 56085 thousand cubic meters by Official Register.
